Time Travel

I often get ideas for my writing from my dreams and last night was no exception. However, this one I'm going to need some feedback on.

In my dream Gregor Macgregor time travelled to this century and became a rock star! He looked a bit like Slash from Guns and Roses.

I woke up laughing, but then thought, huh, I wonder…

Let me know what you think about sending Gregor on a trip!

Me too, but this would be more of a challenge than researching all the history I've done to date! However, it could prove to be very fun.

I think the idea of a time travel novel is great, but I'm not sure I would do it with one of your characters from your other series. Time Travel moves your novel into sci-fi territory and possibly into a different target audience and it might be better to start anew with a similar character. That way you don't have to worry about upsetting your existing fans of the series by such a drastic departure and you have more freedom to really go with the newness of the novel and do something exciting.

I too, like the idea of a time traveler in the midst of your story line, BUT, I as well, agree with baleensavage-in that it would seem to work better if it(he/she) were the key within a new novel; yet keeping Gregor on the scene as THE support character.

You have such intriguing ideas, Mary-go for them!!!!!!!!

Well, it's fairly unanimous, Gregor stays put and a new character will take a trip. Now I just need a new character! I've every confidence that sooner or later, one will appear, as if by magic, and spark another entire series. It's the anticipation of the idea that always get me excited. When it finally gets put on paper, that's when the real fun begins. Thanks for all of your comments and emails.
